Tomorrow: 2-Day Coding Contest to Win Interviews at Facebook, Quora & More

January 5, 2012

Codesprint

Starting this Friday at 8 pm PST, a 48-hour coding competition called CodeSprint kicks off.

Open to everyone, the competition asks you to solve programming problems to win interviews with more than 65 companies, including Facebook, Quora, Amazon, Skype, Dropbox, Groupon, and Airbnb. From now until next Wednesday, participants can browse the available companies and choose which to apply to.

In addition to theoretical problems, this season’s competition focuses on “real-world problems” that interviewing companies have solved (see examples here and here). As for the languages:

For algorithmic problems, you can use C, C++, C#, Java, Python, Perl, PHP, Ruby, Haskell, Scala or Clojure to submit your solutions. Please refer to our FAQ for language version and environment. (Sorry, no NumPy for you Pythonistas).

For Real World Problems, you’ll be given an Amazon Machine Instance to work with, so you’ll have no language restrictions.

The competition is coordinated by InterviewStreet. If you’d like to take a hack at it, sign up for CodeSprint here.
