Urban Airship Acquires SimpleGeo, Adding Value to Mobile App Development

November 2, 2011

Urban Airship and SimpleGeo

SimpleGeo, a startup we have covered a few times – in video interviews from SXSW with Matt Galligan and Jeffrey Kalmikoff and again when Matt Galligan left -  announced on Halloween that they are being purchased by Urban Airship, a move that makes total sense.

Developers everywhere must be excited about this news.  The all-stock deal brings together push notifications, in-app purchasing, subscriptions, context and geo-location so developers can create valuable, killer apps for consumers.

Urban Airship will take over management and the name SimpleGeo will be thing of the past. If you’re currently using SimpleGeo, good news – Context, Places and Storage products will continue to be offered along with all the new offerings they have been cooking up since the summer.

You can find more details about the deal in the press release from Urban Airship here.
