Will.i.am Named Intel’s Director of Creative Innovation

Today we covered Lady Gaga and her participation as the “Creative Director” of Polaroid, so it only makes sense to share that today Intel announced that Will.i.am from The Black Eyed Peas is Intel’s new Director of Creative Innovation. I’d call this the beginning of a tech company trend. What’s next? Taylor Swift as Director of Innovation and Creativity at Sony?  Kanye West as Lead Creativity Director for Microsoft?

On today’s morning press call, Intel explained that Will.i.am will engage in a multi-year, hands-on creative and technology collaboration with Intel Corporation. He has already received an Intel ID badge, which he showed off at the news conference in Anaheim, where Intel is currently holding an internal sales and marketing conference.

Will.i.am had this to say:

“Nearly everything I do involves processors and computers, and when I see an Intel chip I think of all the creative minds involved that help to amplify my own creativity. Teaming up with the scientists, researchers and computer programmers at Intel to collaborate and co-develop new ways to communicate, create, inform and entertain is going to be amazing.”

It will be interesting to see what he helps Intel come up with. Of course, I expect to see Will.i.am in TV commercials soon.
